Spent the last week in Florida for International Society of Caricature Artists - ISCA #iscacon33. As a board member this year it was a very different experience, helping behind the scenes to run the event. Despite some hiccups beyond our control, I’m satisfied that it ran smoothly, and the sense of accomplishment at the end of the week was a different kind of high than the usual high from being there as a participant. I’m so grateful to have been a part of the proceedings this year and know that I have made friends for life. Much love and gratitude to the ISCA community!

One of the great things about live caricature is the spontaneous magic that can happen. This couple didn’t have a theme in mind when they started, but ended up choosing their favorite characters: Godzilla and Batman. This was a super fun time!

Today I’d like to draw attention to International Society of Caricature Artists - ISCA, the caricature organization I’ve been lucky to be a part of since 2018. I’m currently serving on the board this year, because I truly believe that this organization is essential for any caricature artist, no matter whether they’re a veteran or just starting out.
I’ve been a caricature artist for the past 25 years, but it always felt like a solo endeavor. When I finally joined ISCA 6 years ago, I felt like I had come home to a family of creatives, weirdos, visionaries, and the most welcoming group of people ever.
Not only has ISCA expanded my artistic horizons, fueled my growth, and inspired my business practices, I’ve had so many great opportunities to work with the best in the business all over the world. In fact, this week, I am in Washington state drawing with the Over The Line Art crew at the Washington state fair. If not for ISCA, I wouldn’t have been able to draw this awesome family with a Doctor Who theme!
